B. Pritchard, jeweler and optician, and mayor of Neosho, Mo., was born in Clark County, Ill., December 12, 1844, and is a son of David Pritchard, who was born in Virginia; the mother, whose maiden name was Catherine McGee, was born in Kentucky. Mr. B. Pritchard, whose name heads this sketch, learned the trade of gun and silver smithing, and has since followed this calling, but of late years the greater part of his attention has been given to the jewelry business. He removed to Marion County, Ill., in 1874, and there resided until 1876, when he came to Newton County, Mo., and has since been numbered among the reliable business men of the county. He was married in August, 1867, to Isabella V. Hutchinson, a native of Clark County, Ill., and they have two children: James H. and Blanche. Besides dealing in jewelry Mr. Pritchard makes a specialty of optical goods, and also handles organs and other musical instruments, as well as sewing machines. He has a fine paying trade, and is doing a good business. He was elected mayor of Neosho, April 3, 1888, for a term of two years.
