Dr. J. W. Marsh, whose success as a physician has made him well known all over the county, was born in Dallas County, Mo., and attained his growth on the farm. He was educated at a private school, later attended the State University at Columbia, Mo., and entered Missouri Medical College at St. Louis, Mo., where he graduated in the spring of 1881. He then located in Tipton, and has practiced his profession since with good success. He is the son of Lewis M. and Mary (Wilkenson) Marsh, the father a native of Mississippi, and of Irish descent, and the mother of Scotch origin. The father was a tiller of the soil, which occupation he carried on the principal part of his life. He went to California in 1849, engaged in mining, but later returned to Missouri, and is now residing in Dallas County, Mo. Dr. Marsh was married in 1883 to Miss Nanny S. Talbott, of Fayette County, and the fruits of this union were three interesting children: Lewis Talbott, Harry Stephenson and Mary. The Doctor is a member of the I. O. O. F. Encampment and the American Legion of Honor. He has a large practice, and is considered one of the leading physicians of the county. Mrs. Marsh is a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church, South.
