Below is a family biography included in The History of Moniteau County, Missouri published by Goodspeed Publishing Company in 1889.  These biographies are valuable for genealogy research in discovering missing ancestors or filling in the details of a family tree. J. C. Meyers, of the firm of Meyers & Burgi, druggists, of Jamestown, Mo., was born in Lucas County, Ohio, in 1848. His father was John J. Meyers, a native of Switzerland, who served as a soldier in the Italian War; he learned the trade of house-carpenter and mill wright in his native country, and when a young man came to America, first locating in Lucas County, Ohio. About 1856 he removed to Shelby County, Mo., where he followed his trade; he lived awhile in Paris, Monroe County, and spent two years in Denver, Col., on a stock ranch; he then went to Albany, Tex., where he engaged in stock-raising until his death in 1886. He was twice married, his first wife, the mother of our subject, dying when their only child was young; by his second marriage he had six children. J. C. Meyers grew to manhood in Shelby County, Mo., where he received a common-school education. In 1872 he removed to Jamestown, and there engaged in the drug business, which he has ever since successfully followed, and is now one of the most prominent men of the community. He has served as justice of the peace of Linn Township, and in 1886 was elected judge of Moniteau County. Mr. Meyers married Angeline Carroll, a native of Moniteau County, Mo. They are the parents of the following children: Carl G., Herbert L., Hugh A., Linnie E., Minnie E. (deceased) and William D. (deceased). Mr. and Mrs. Meyers are active and consistent members of the Methodist Episcopal Church, South. Mr. Meyers is also a member of the A. F. & A. M.
