Dr. H. C. Klueber, physician and surgeon of California, Mo., was born in Bavaria, Germany, and is a son of Edward and Theresa (Small) Klueber, who were also born there, and are now deceased. The subject of our sketch was reared and educated in Germany, and at the age of twenty years began the study of medicine, graduating in 1863 from the medical college at Wurzburg, Germany. He practiced a short time in his native land, and in 1864 sailed for America, taking passage at Hamburg and landed in New York. He soon came to St. Louis, where he enlisted as assistant surgeon for the Forty-first Missouri Infantry, and served until the close of the war. In the fall of 1865 he came to California, and here has since been actively engaged in practicing his profession, and has built up a large and paying patronage. He ranks among the first physicians of the county, and the people showed their appreciation of his efforts by electing him to the position of county coroner, which position he held one term. He is an enterprising citizen, and has done his share in furthering enterprises for the public weal.
