F. Markwarth & Co., wholesale and retail dealers in saddles, harness, leather findings, etc., are the largest dealers in Moniteau County and surrounding country. They manufacture everything that is to be found at any wholesale house in the larger cities, and a full supply is constantly kept on hand. Mr. Markwarth established this business here in 1854, and is one of the first saddlers of the county. His business was begun on a small scale, but his workmanship and integrity soon increased his sales, and he is now one of the prominent business men of California. Since erecting his present business building, which is a large two-story brick, he has employed a large number of men. Some time ago he took in William Hecht as a partner, and the firm has continued since as F. Markwarth & Co.
