C. F. Niederjohn is a prosperous young farmer and native of Moniteau County, Mo., his birth occurring in 1861, being the fourth of a family of six children born to Herman and Anna Niederjohn, who were Germans, and came to America in 1850. After living one year in St. Louis, they came to Moniteau County, and were engaged in farming until the father’s death, in 1876. His wife still survives him, and resides with our subject. C. F. Niederjohn attended the district schools and assisted his father on the farm in his youth. May 3, 1888, he was united in marriage in Moniteau County to Miss Mary Osterly, a native of Indiana, and a daughter of George and Minnie (Tramor) Osterly, also natives of the “Hoosier State.” They came to Moniteau County, Mo., in 1875, and are now residing on a farm in Walker Township. After his marriage Mr. Niederjohn settled on his present farm, which is a fine tract consisting of 400 acres, well improved, and in a good location. He is enterprising, intelligent and industrious, and promises to become one of the wealthy citizens of the county. His political views are in accord with the Republican party, and he always votes that ticket. He and wife are members of the German Evangelical Church. He is the only surviving member of his father’s family, his brothers’ and sisters’ names being as follows: William, died when three years of age; Annie, at the age of two years; Louisa, when four months old, and Recka, at the age of twenty-two years.
