Below is a family biography included in The History of Lawrence County, Missouri published by Goodspeed Publishing Company in 1888.  These biographies are valuable for genealogy research in discovering missing ancestors or filling in the details of a family tree. Bernhard Wild is a native of Saxony, Germany, born September 29, 1842, and is the son of Wilhelm and Henrietta (Schneider) Wild, the father being a merchant of Rosswein. Bernard Wild learned farming in his native country, and in 1864 he came to America, and spent some time in traveling through the western country. He had previously spent three years, from his seventeenth to his twentieth year, in Brazil, South America. He located in this country in 1864, but in 1867 he returned to Saxony, and spent several years there. In 1860 he revisited America, but soon after again returned to his native country, where he remained until 1872, when he married in Dresden, the capital of Saxony, Miss Elizabeth Thieme, daughter of Herman and Rosalie (Wendich) Thieme, her father being a pottery manufacturer. Mrs. Wild was a graduate of a high school, or college, as it would be called in this country. To their marriage were born six children, three sons and three daughters: H. Margaret, Therese Babetta, Gisela Elsie, Herman Bernhard, Charles William and Otto Emil. Mr. Wild and wife are members of the Evangelical Lutheran Church, the religion of their ancestors. Mrs. Wild was born in Goerlitz, province of Prussia. Mr. Wild has 160 acres of valuable land, and has built and improved his property, which is the site of the old Barry County court-house.
