Alfred Harris Hewlett, farmer and stock raiser, was born in Lawrence County, Mo., January 28, 1856, and is a son of James Pemberton and Mary (Spilman) Hewlett, and grandson of Samuel Hewlett. Alfred H. Hewlitt was married February 14, 1873, to Elzada Arnett, who was born in Arkansas in December, 1857, and is a daughter of Dr. Jacob Arnett, who died in Newton County Mo., in 1887. By her he became the father of the following family of children: Mary Ellen, Zena P., Stella Frances, Neva Evaline, Artie Bessie (who died in 1882) and Ethel. Mr. Hewlett is one of the prosperous farmers of Lawrence County, and is a member of the Farmers’ Alliance and the Missionary Baptist Church. His wife died September 3, 1886.
