Below is a family biography included in The History of Jasper County, Missouri published by Mills & Company in 1883.  These biographies are valuable for genealogy research in discovering missing ancestors or filling in the details of a family tree. GRANVILLE VANBEBER was born in Claiborne county, east Tennessee, Feb. 5, 1831, and was raised in that state. He removed to Pulaski county, Ky., in 1854, and in 1862 to Putnam county, Ind. In 1867 he removed to the Southwest, residing in Crawford county, Kan., until 1874, when he became a citizen of Jasper county, Mo. He was married in March, 1854, to Mary Lee, who was born April 1, 1835. The children are Emily J., Sarah A. (died June 18, 1877), Barbara, Mary M., John, and Tilda. The subject of this sketch has a farm in township 28, range 34, section 2, of eighty acres, about half of it being improved. Twenty-eight acres the past season averaged seventeen bushels of wheat to the acre; there is an orchard of seventy-five trees of various varieties.
