Below is a family biography included in The History of Hickory County, Missouri published by Goodspeed Publishing Company in 1889.  These biographies are valuable for genealogy research in discovering missing ancestors or filling in the details of a family tree. Frank Mieler is one of the numerous successful farmers and stockmen of Cross Timbers Township, Hickory County, Mo., and was born in Alsace, France in 1842; He was there reared and educated, and was by trade a contractor and builder, at which he worked after coming to the United States in 1871. He landed at Castle Garden on the 5th of February of that year, and, after remaining in the city of New York for three years, went to Woodland, of the same State, where he resided two years, then to Westchester, remaining two years, then returned to New York City, where he was engaged in contracting and building for seven years, his services being employed on some of the largest buildings in the city. He emigrated West to Missouri, and followed the same occupation at West Pilot and around Kansas City, Mo., for four years, and has been very successful in his work, and has deeds for 300 acres of good land in Hickory County, which land he will sell for $35 per acre, some of good river bottom land, and the rest is on the ridges. He is a stanch Republican in his political views, and he and wife, whom he married while residing in New York City, are members of the Catholic Church. Her maiden name was Miss Minnie Rebecky and she was born in Alsace, France, in 1850.
