Below is a family biography included in The History of Franklin County, Missouri published by Goodspeed Publishing Company in 1888.  These biographies are valuable for genealogy research in discovering missing ancestors or filling in the details of a family tree. William J. Lintner, a farmer and mechanic of Union Township, was born in Franklin County, Mo., January 6, 1843, and is a son of Albert Lintner, of this township (now residing with William), who located in the county in 1842. William’s mother was formerly Miss Kunie Kline. The subject of this sketch was reared to a farm experience, receiving as he grew up a common-school education. He also learned the trade of carpenter, and to this has given his attention most of the time. In 1872 he was married to Miss Lizzie Young, who has borne him three children: Albert, August and John. Mr. Lintner owns eighty acres of land upon which he resides, well cultivated and improved. He was district school clerk for several years, and at the present time is agent for the Farmers’ Home Insurance Company of this county. During the late war he served for three years and three months in Company G, Seventeenth Missouri Volunteer Infantry, participating in twenty-three battles, undergoing many hardships and privations incident to such a life. Mr. Lintner is a member of the G. A. R. and of the A. O. U. W.
