Herman H. Dulle is the oldest of his parents’ six children, and was born in Hanover, Germany, in 1822. John E. Dulle, the father, was a farmer, and was married in his native land to Emma McCrady, and in 1844 immigrated to the United States, landing at New Orleans. He came directly to Cole County, and purchased 200 acres of wild land, on which he immediately built a house and began making improvements. After clearing about twenty acres he died, in 1848. Herman H. Dulle assumed management of the farm after his father’s death. He has 100 acres of land cleared, and his 200 hundred acres of land embrace two farms, on one of which is his handsome brick residence, built in 1873. He is engaged in general farming, and his land produces about twenty bushels of wheat to the acre and fifty bushels of corn. He votes with the Democratic party, but does not take an active interest in politics. In 1852 he was married to Miss Mary Hocker, who was born in Germany, and a daughter of Herman Hocker, and by her has a family of eight children: Catherine, wife of Ben. Haake; Herman, who is married, and resides in Jefferson City, Mo.; Maggie, wife of Ben. Backers; Lizzie, Benjamin, William, Mary and Annie. Mr. and Mrs. Dulle are members of the Catholic Church.
