L. D. Blankenship, an enterprising and progressive young business man of Corsicana, Mo., is a native of the town, born in 1864. He is a son of L. J. and Martha (Garrison) Blankenship, and was reared on a farm. He received an academical education at Pea Ridge, Ark., Marionville, Mo., and Cassville, Mo. After finishing his education he returned to Corsicana, and in 1885 purchased the flouring mills. After operating the mills successfully for one year, he purchased a general merchandise store, which he has since been managing in connection with his milling interests. With the determination to keep abreast with the progress of the times, he has recently abandoned the old buhr process, and has had his mill refitted with the new roller process. He has sole control of both the store and mill. On December 24, 1886, he was united in marriage with Letitia Arahood, a native of Indiana, who was born in 1869. Their union has been blessed by the birth of one child, Pearl. Politically, Mr. Blankenship is a Democrat. He is the present postmaster of Corsicana.
