E. D. Bedwell, editor and proprietor of the Exeter (Missouri) Enterprise was born in St. Joseph, Mo., on July 13, 1860. His father, a physician of Carthage, Mo., died on May 3, 1877. Our subject received his education and learned the printer’s trade in Carthage, and when twenty-four years of age was united in marriage with Lillie Haas, of Neosho, Mo. At the time he was married he was publishing the Neosho Times, but for three years prior to this had been connected with the Joplin Daily Herald. From Neosho he went to Split Log, McDonald County, and published the Split Log Weekly News from January to October, 1887. From the latter date until June 1, 1888, he was assistant secretary of the Kansas City, Fort Scott & Southern Railroad, which is better known as the Split Log Railway. Since then he has been at Exeter. His first issue of the Enterprise was on Thursday, June 21, 1888. A long felt want in Exeter has been supplied by this spicy paper, which promises to be a rich blessing to its patrons and proprietor. Politically Mr. Bedwell is a Jacksonian Democrat.
