Below is a family biography included in County of Todd, Kentucky, Historical and Biographical edited by William Henry Perrin and published by F. A. PAUL H. SALMON was born September 25, 1814, in South Carolina. His parents are George and Elizabeth (West) Salmon, the father a native of Virginia, the mother of Maryland. The father was a teacher, merchant and farmer. He died in Marshall County, Miss., in 1865, aged eighty-seven. The mother died in South Carolina in 1829. Paul H. came to this county in 1844. Six years previous he had been engaged in the cotton mills. He sold goods in Elkton six years, and in 1850 he came to the farm on which he now resides. After the death of his father-in-law, he bought the farm. It is known as the “Jefferson farm;” it contains 360 acres, about half of which is improved. He has a good liberal education; he has the finest library in this neighborhood, and is very fond of reading; consequently is well informed. He is an ordained minister of the Methodist Episcopal Church South, and has been preaching the past ten years. He was married in 1859 to Miss L. J. Jefferson, born in 1828 in Virginia. She is the daughter of I. Randolph Jefferson and Louisa J. (Peyton) Jefferson, old Virginia stock. Mr. and Mrs. Salmon have six living children, viz.: George Randolph, who was married to Miss Ellen Stokes, now deceased; Evaline, the wife of Harlan Lucaus (John H. is their only child); Lewis Jackson, married to Miss Rosa Montlow (William H. and America A.—deceased—were their children); Martha J., Paul H: and Mary Ann.
