MARCUS M. GRAVES was born in Christian County, Ky., July 2, 1850. He removed to Todd County in 1871, where he at present resides. His father, Robert N. Graves, a native of Todd County, was born in 1824, and is still living; he is the son of Joseph P., who was born in Virginia, and died in 1856, about sixty-five years of age. Marcus M.’s mother, Maria L. (Bowles), was born in 1826, and died in 1867. To herself and husband were born Ossian A., William N., Marcus M., Franklin P., Mary L. (Gresham), Ellen V. (Buie), Joseph M., James H. and Robert T. September 2, 1875, Marcus M. was united in marriage with Miss Virginia A., daughter of Wiley and Penicia (Wood) Brumfield, of Christian County, and to them were born Maggie V., Eugene, Claudia, and one unnamed. Mr. Graves is engaged in the profession of farming; owns 300 acres of good land, well improved and in fine condition. Besides the bounteous products of his well managed farm, he is also a successful dealer in live-stock. In 1882, he prepared a series of fine fish ponds, graded and walled with stone, and fed by living springs. Into these fine ponds Mr. Graves is successfully introducing German carp, and trout. Mr. G. is a member of the Baptist Church, and a Democrat.
