Below is a family biography from the book, History of Kentucky, Edition 7 by J. H. Battle, W. H. Perrin and G. C. Kniffin and published by F. A. Battey Publishing Company in 1887.  These biographies are valuable for genealogy research in discovering missing ancestors or filling in the details of a family tree. Family biographies often include far more information than can be found in a census record or obituary.  Details will vary with each biography but will often include the date and place of birth, parent names including mothers' maiden name, name of wife including maiden name, her parents' names, name of children (including spouses if married), former places of residence, occupation details, military service, church and social organization affiliations, and more.  There are often ancestry details included that cannot be found in any other type of genealogical record.

BENJAMIN M. MULLIN, a native of Pendleton County, Ky., was born March 27, 1847, and is a son of James K. and Mary M. (Anderson) Mullin. James K. Mullin was born in Campbell County, Va., in June, 1818, but is now a farmer of Pendleton County, Ky. Mrs. Mary M. Mullin was born in 1827. Benjamin M. Mullin was educated in his native county, and remained on the home farm until his marriage in 1870, to Miss Mary Yelton, a daughter of R. T. Yelton. To this marriage have been born six children, viz.: Flora Eunice, in 1871; Minnie H., in 1873; Luella, in 1876; James R., in 1880; Ralph W., in 1883, and Horby R., in 1885. Mr. Mullin has served as magistrate four years and as deputy sheriff the same length of time. He has a tobacco warehouse at Mossville, which he established in 1878, and also has a farm of 120 acres in Pendleton County. He is a Democrat in politics, and in religion adheres to the Christian Church.
