Below is a family biography from the book, History of Kentucky, Edition 1 by J. H. Battle, W. H. Perrin and G. C. Kniffin and published by F. A. Battey Publishing Company in 1885. These biographies are valuable for genealogy research in discovering missing ancestors or filling in the details of a family tree. Family biographies often include far more information than can be found in a census record or obituary. Details will vary with each biography but will often include the date and place of birth, parent names including mothers' maiden name, name of wife including maiden name, her parents' names, name of children (including spouses if married), former places of residence, occupation details, military service, church and social organization affiliations, and more. ENOCH E. LYNN is a son of Joseph and Marinda (Foley) Lynn, natives respectively of Tennessee and Kentucky. The father was a farmer in early life. He served in the Mexican and also in the late civil war. During the latter service, he was a member of the Fifteenth Kentucky Cavalry (Federal). He is at present a mail agent on the Ohio River. Four of the nine children born to the parents of our subject are now living: Martha, Angie, Missouri, and Enoch E. The last named was born in Massac County, Ill., April 15, 1849. He came to this county some six years ago, and has given his time principally to farming and general trading. He married Miss Fannie Stephens, a daughter of Dr. Thomas Stephens. Five children have blessed this union, four of whom survive: Leata M., Edna E., Nellie B. and Florence.
