CHARLES R. HALL was born in 1844, in Halifax County, Va. He is a son of William J. and Ann E. (Barnes) Hall, who removed from Virginia to Kentucky, in 1850, settling that year in the western part of McCracken County, where the father engaged in the pursuits of the farm until his death, which occurred about 1863; the mother is still a resident of the county. Charles R. Hall devoted himself to the industries of farm life until 1879, when he removed to Paducah to engage in the tobacco trade. Since that date, he has been actively engaged in the business, as a re-handler and shipper. In 1875 he was married to Miss Mary E. Overstreet, daughter of Elisha Overstreet, of McCracken County, Ky. Mr. Hall is a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church, of the K. of H. and the K. of G. C.
