My Genealogy Hound

Below is a family biography from the book, History of Kentucky, Edition 1 by J. H. Battle, W. H. Perrin and G. C. Kniffin and published by F. A. Battey Publishing Company in 1885.  These biographies are valuable for genealogy research in discovering missing ancestors or filling in the details of a family tree. Family biographies often include far more information than can be found in a census record or obituary.  Details will vary with each biography but will often include the date and place of birth, parent names including mothers' maiden name, name of wife including maiden name, her parents' names, name of children (including spouses if married), former places of residence, occupation details, military service, church and social organization affiliations, and more.  There are often ancestry details included that cannot be found in any other type of genealogical record.

WILLIAM MUSCOVALLEY was born in this county, in 1851, of John and Jane (Anderson) Muscovalley, of this county, whose sketch precedes this. William went first of all to the common schools, afterward to Milburn Academy, town of Milburn, Ballard Co., Ky. After leaving the academy he worked for his father until of age, when he started for himself on a good, but small farm, situated on the river front, and joining his father’s property, and which he cultivates principally in corn. It is well improved with a comfortable house, and all under cultivation. In 1880 he commenced as a lumberman on his own account, hauling and rafting logs to Memphis, also in lumbering generally, which he continued for three years very successfully, making a good deal of money at it. In 1883 he again settled down to farming. September 15, 18—, he was married to Miss Fanny Watson, daughter of Emanuel and Sarah (Ward) Watson, of Ballard County. In politics he is a Democrat.
