W. D. WARD was born February 20, 1858, in Ballard County. He is a son of W. A. and E. J. (Berry) Ward. The father was born in Calloway County, Ky., in 1825, and is now living on his farm in Hickman County. The mother is a native of Tennessee. Our subject was reared on his father’s place, and at the age of twenty rented a farm, where he lived three years. He then bought a farm and soon after moved to Clinton, where he engaged in merchandising, which he still continues. In 1881 he engaged in the livery business, which he now carries on. He was married November 24, 1878, to Sophia Williams, of this county, and this union has been blessed with one daughter. Mr. and Mrs. Ward are members of the Methodist Episcopal Church South.
