Below is a family biography from the book, History of Kentucky, Edition 1 by J. H. Battle, W. H. Perrin and G. C. Kniffin and published by F. A. Battey Publishing Company in 1885. These biographies are valuable for genealogy research in discovering missing ancestors or filling in the details of a family tree. Family biographies often include far more information than can be found in a census record or obituary. MRS. HALLIE G. LILLARD was born in 1835, near Paris, Bourbon County, Ky., was reared on her father’s farm and came with her parents in an early day to this county. In 1856 she was married to Dr. W. W. Lillard, of Lawrenceburg, Anderson County. To this union there were three sons born, Thomas H., George K. and Robert. Dr. W. W. Lillard was educated at Franklin Military Institute, Kentucky; enlisted in the Mexican war, was wounded at Buena Vista, from the effects of which he never recovered. After his return home he studied medicine, came to Hickman County in 1852, and located in the town of Clinton as practicing physician. He was surgeon in the late war, and died in 1867, in Columbus, where he had been practicing medicine for three years. Since his death Mrs. Lillard has been managing the farm, which is in a good state of cultivation, well improved and consists of 180 acres. During the war Mrs. Lillard was visited by Gregory’s men and had a good deal of trouble with them. Mrs. Lillard is a lady of great refinement and is highly educated.
