GEORGE W. BURY was born February 22, 1848, in Paducah. He is a son of James and Eliza (Byington) Bury. The father was born in Washington, D. C., and there learned the blacksmith trade. in the navy yard. In 1845 he came to Paducah, and there carried on his trade till his death, which occurred in 1873, aged fifty-eight. The mother was born in Pittsburgh, Penn.; she died in 1867, aged fifty-one. Our subject was reared in Paducah, and followed civil engineering, also farming. In 1881 he, with Mr. Graves, built the Clinton Mills, which they have since operated. Their capacity is about fifty barrels of flour and 200 bushels of corn per day. Mr. Bury was married, in 1872, to Hannah Craft, of Paducah. He is a member of the city council; also a member of the Presbyterian Church.
