BEN M. MONROE, Hickman County, agent of the Mobile and Ohio Railroad, at Columbus, was born December 31, 1849, in Frankfort, Ky. He is a son of Andrew and Martha (Taylor) Monroe. The father was born in Adair County, Ky.; he was a lawyer by profession, and had held many important offices, among which was county judge of Jefferson County; he died in 1867, aged forty-five. Our subject received his education at Louisville. In 1868 he came to Columbus; since 1872 he has been in the employ of the Mobile & Ohio Railroad Company, and is now acting station agent at this point. He was married in 1877 to Miss V. M., daughter of Dr. J. M. Jackson, of Columbus. She died in the fall of 1881, leaving one daughter. His second marriage was in 1883, to Miss Sue M., daughter of Thomas Winn, of Hickman County. Mr. Monroe is a member of the K. of H.
