Below is a family biography from the book, History of Kentucky, Edition 1 by J. H. Battle, W. H. Perrin and G. C. Kniffin and published by F. A. Battey Publishing Company in 1885. These biographies are valuable for genealogy research in discovering missing ancestors or filling in the details of a family tree. MRS. A. C. LESTER, was born January 23, 1820, in Simpson County, Ky. She is a daughter of Henry Wright, of Maryland. He came to Hickman County in 1839, and here engaged in farming until 1853, when he moved to Texas, where he soon after died, at the age of sixty-two, of yellow fever. Mrs. Lester was married in 1839 to Richard Lester; he was born in Pulaski County, Tenn., came to Columbus in 1853, and was engaged in merchandising until his death in 1859, leaving a family of six children, five of whom are living: Sarah (now Mrs. Webb), Ada (now Mrs. Jones), Belle (now Mrs. Emerson), Milton H. (in the employ of the Mobile & Ohio Railroad for the past twelve years), Ada J. (now living at home), Henry F., entered the Confederate Army in 1862 as second lieutenant, and later was promoted to captain; he died in Columbus in October, 1865, aged twenty-six.
