Below is a family biography from the book, History of Kentucky, Edition 1 by J. H. Battle, W. H. Perrin and G. C. Kniffin and published by F. A. Battey Publishing Company in 1885.  These biographies are valuable for genealogy research in discovering missing ancestors or filling in the details of a family tree. ALBERT H. SCEARCE is a native of Fulton County, and was born November 10, 1828, at the place of his present residence, which has always been his home. His father, Lewis Scearce, was born in Woodford County, Ky., came to Fulton County in 1828, where he died in 1881. He was the son of Robert of Virginia, a soldier in the war of 1812. Lewis’ wife, Clemency, daughter of Joseph Roper, died in 1846. Their children are: Mary M. (Johnson), subject, Catherine E. (Bransford), Susan (McClellan), Sarah A. (married to Atwell, Royster and McGehee), Victoria (Rhodes), Wellington and Robert H. January 15, 1852, subject was married to Miss Martha J. Champion, of Hickman County, Ky. She was born in 1826 and died in 1865. Their children are Robert L., Frances V. (deceased), Nora (Mayes), William C. and Albert S. Mr. Scearce was next married in 1868, to Miss Alley K. Dickens, of Hickman County, and to them have been born Mack D., Mary E., Joseph, Mattie and Richard. Subject is extensively engaged in general trading and dealing in produce. He is a farmer, owning 1,000 acres of valuable land in fine condition. In politics he is a Democrat.
