WILLIAM HAYDEN, a prominent farmer of Carroll County, Ky., was born in Henry County, Ky., May 10, 1812, and is the fourth of a family of nine children born to Benjamin and Hannah (McPike) Hayden. Benjamin Hayden, a farmer, was born in Virginia, moved to Kentucky at an early date, and settled in Henry County, where he died in February, 1860, and his wife in 1850. William Hayden was reared on a farm, received a common-school education, and chose farming as an occupation. In 1857 he moved to Carroll County, and settled near where he now resides, and where he has owned a large tract of land, but has given all but 140 acres to his children. He married Miss Lucinda Carroll, daughter of James and Bettie (Campbell) Carroll. She died in 1855, and Mr. Hayden married Susan Williams, daughter of Samuel and Liddie (Williams) Williams. Five children have blessed this union: Sarah E., George A., James S., Annie E. and Eunice J. The family are consistent members of the Baptist Church. Politically Mr. Hayden is a Democrat.
