W. H. GREENE was born February 18, 1847, in Barren County, Ky. His schooling was obtained mainly in the Milburn District. He began life by buying staves for the European market. He next railroaded in Texas for two years, and then began merchandising in Union City, Tenn. In 1879 he began handling and buying staves, and now makes annual trips to New Orleans. He was married February 1, 1879, to Miss Sallie B. Stone, daughter of George W. and Ellen Stone of this county.
