JOHN W. MANOR was born August 21, 1849, in Shenandoah County, Va., and was brought by his parents in 1850 to Todd County, Ky., and in 1860, to Ballard County, where he still resides. His father William C. Manor, Esq., a native of Virginia, was born in 1816, and is still living. William E. espoused Mary E., daughter of Robert F. Furguson, of Virginia (born in 1821, and died in 1881). Their children are: Robert F., subject, Hannah J. (Northington), Dr. Jesse B., Mary E. and Albert B. Our subject was favored with a good English education, and is a reading man. He was married January 9, 1877, to Miss Nannie A., daughter of John and Evelina (Watwood) Rasco, of Ballard County (born in 1851), and to them were born Lizzie and Mary. Subject was seven years a clerk in a store, but is now engaged in farming, in which he is successful in raising wheat, corn and tobacco. For many years he has acted as deputy-sheriff and district deputy clerk. In religion he is a Christian and in politics a Democrat.
