MRS. ELIZABETH A. MORGAN, the worthy subject of this sketch, was born July 27, 1826, in Ballard County, Ky., where she has all her life resided. She is the daughter of Tolly C. Gholson, a Virginian, who was born in 1798, and died in 1833. His wife, Phoebe, daughter of John Dyer, was born in 1801, and died in 1878. This union was blessed with the following children: Ellis E., John W., Mary J. (Reddick), subject, and Tolly C. On April 19, 1849, our subject was married to Thomas M. Morgan, a native of Daviess County, Ind. He was born November 25, 1822, and died January 28, 1879. To subject and her husband were born Georgia A. (Biggs), Thomas T., Rev. John J., Sarah E. (Flint), Elena T., Fredonia, Robert M. and Mary T. (Pease). Since the decease of her late husband, Mrs. Morgan, with her children, has carried on farming, having an estate of 600 acres of medium land in a fair state of cultivation. She is an honored member of the Christian Church.
