CORNELIUS D. STAHL, Ballard County, was born October 16, 1835, in Todd County, Ky., was taken by his parents in 1836 to Simpson County, and in 1853, to Marshall County; in 1869 he came to Ballard County, where he has since resided. His father, David Stahl, died in 1880, at the age of eighty-seven years. He married Elizabeth, daughter of Cornelius Turner, of Warren County, and from this union sprang Franklin, John W., William, Lapsey, Ruth A. (Lockhart), Mary E. (Appling), subject, Chesterfield, Winchester and Daniel P. On October 14, 1869, subject was married to Miss Jeretta, daughter of Joseph W. and Sarah (Simmons) Owen, of Ballard County, born June 4, 1851, and to them have been born: C. D., Sallie, Maud and Lizzie Fay. Subject is a successful farmer, owning 270 acres of fine land in a high state of cultivation, on which he grows wheat, corn, tobacco, and other products. He is a member of the Knights of Honor, and in politics is identified with the Democratic party.
