Below is a family biography from the book, History of Kentucky, Edition 7 by J. H. Battle, W. H. Perrin and G. C. Kniffin and published by F. A. Battey Publishing Company in 1887.  These biographies are valuable for genealogy research in discovering missing ancestors or filling in the details of a family tree. Family biographies often include far more information than can be found in a census record or obituary.  Details will vary with each biography but will often include the date and place of birth, parent names including mothers' maiden name, name of wife including maiden name, her parents' names, name of children (including spouses if married), former places of residence, occupation details, military service, church and social organization affiliations, and more.  There are often ancestry details included that cannot be found in any other type of genealogical record.

S. F. B. MORSE, general passenger agent of the Kentucky Central Railroad, was born in Louisville, Ky., June 3, 1858, and is a son of N. C. and Mary Z. (Withers) Morse. N. C. Morse was born in Vermont in 1818. He was a wholesale dealer in pianos and organs, and moved to Louisville in 1850. He died in Wolfe County, Ky., in 1877, a member of the Baptist Church and a Master Mason. S. F. B. Morse, when two years old, was taken by his parents from Louisville to Covington, where he received a common-school education. In 1874 he became connected with the Kentucky Central Railroad Company, as clerk in the general passenger agent’s office, and then was employed in the auditor’s department about two years, then in the ticket department, then back to the auditor’s department, then was ticket and general baggage-master. From 1881 to 1883 he was chief clerk in the general passenger and ticket department. In 1884 the general office was taken to Richmond, Va. He was then division passenger agent, in charge of the passenger department of the Kentucky Central Railroad up to January 28, 1886, at which time he was appointed general passenger agent of the Kentucky Central Railroad, which position he has since retained. He was married March 24, 1881, to Miss Nellie L. Morris of Covington, daughter of W. G. and Julia A. (Walls) Morris. Three children blessed this union, of whom two are living: Julia M. and Albert W.
