Below is a family biography from the book, History of Kentucky, Edition 7 by J. H. Battle, W. H. Perrin and G. C. Kniffin and published by F. A. Battey Publishing Company in 1887.  These biographies are valuable for genealogy research in discovering missing ancestors or filling in the details of a family tree. Family biographies often include far more information than can be found in a census record or obituary.  Details will vary with each biography but will often include the date and place of birth, parent names including mothers' maiden name, name of wife including maiden name, her parents' names, name of children (including spouses if married), former places of residence, occupation details, military service, church and social organization affiliations, and more.  There are often ancestry details included that cannot be found in any other type of genealogical record.

JOHN L. CONNER was born near Florence, Boone Co., Ky., February 25, 1847, and is the youngest of three children born to Allen and Sarah A. (Holsclaw) Conner, natives of Boone County. John L. Conner was reared on the farm and received his education at the common schools of Boone County. He followed farming until 1875, when he moved to Erlanger where he has since been engaged in business. September 30, 1869, he married Sallie E. Fulton, daughter of Lee M. and Rebecca (Andrews) Fulton, of Boone County, but originally from Virginia and Ohio, respectively. Three children blessed this union — one son and two daughters — viz.: Carrie, Nannie and Allie. Mrs. Conner died May 9, 1881, and in October, 1881, Mr. Conner married Mrs. Julia Souther, widow of Jerome Souther, and daughter of John Cleek, of Boone County. Two children have been born to this marriage: Leona and Jessie. Politically Mr. Conner is a Democrat.
