Below is a family biography from the book, History of Kentucky, Edition 7 by J. H. Battle, W. H. Perrin and G. C. Kniffin and published by F. A. Battey Publishing Company in 1887.  These biographies are valuable for genealogy research in discovering missing ancestors or filling in the details of a family tree. Family biographies often include far more information than can be found in a census record or obituary.  Details will vary with each biography but will often include the date and place of birth, parent names including mothers' maiden name, name of wife including maiden name, her parents' names, name of children (including spouses if married), former places of residence, occupation details, military service, church and social organization affiliations, and more.  There are often ancestry details included that cannot be found in any other type of genealogical record.

GEORGE H. DAVISON, a native of Bedford County, Penn., was born March 27, 1847, and is a son of James and Mary Ann (Hall) Davison, natives, respectively, of Pennsylvania and England. James Davison settled in Covington, Kenton County, in 1847, where he was engaged as a hat manufacturer; he was born in 1811, and died in 1865. George H. Davison was reared in Covington, and was educated in the high schools of that city. He worked for his father in the hat store for some time, and afterward for Dodd & Co., in Cincinnati, Ohio; he then returned to Covington, and became bookkeeper for W. H. Walker & Co., merchants, in which place he was engaged for four years, when he kept books for a wholesale coal company until 1874. In April of the latter year he was elected to fill an unexpired term of city clerk, was afterward re-elected to the same office, and served until 1882, when he resigned and became teller in the Farmers’ and Traders’ Bank. In 1885 he resigned the latter place to accept the collectorship for the Sixth District, comprising nine counties, and requiring ninety-eight subordinates under him. In October, 1879, he married Miss Kate Knoll, of Covington, daughter of Frank Knoll, and three children have blessed their union, viz.: Laura, Mary and Daisy. Mr. Davison is a stockholder in the Farmers’ and Traders’ Bank, is a member of the Masonic fraternity, a Knight of Pythias, a Knight of Honor, and a Democrat politically.
