Below is a family biography from the book, History of Kentucky, Edition 7 by J. H. Battle, W. H. Perrin and G. C. Kniffin and published by F. A. Battey Publishing Company in 1887.  These biographies are valuable for genealogy research in discovering missing ancestors or filling in the details of a family tree. Family biographies often include far more information than can be found in a census record or obituary.  Details will vary with each biography but will often include the date and place of birth, parent names including mothers' maiden name, name of wife including maiden name, her parents' names, name of children (including spouses if married), former places of residence, occupation details, military service, church and social organization affiliations, and more.  There are often ancestry details included that cannot be found in any other type of genealogical record.

DR. FRANK C. COLLINS was born in Kenton County, Ky., April 13, 1860, and is a son of Richard T. and Georgiana (Cummins) Collins, natives respectively of Pendleton and Bourbon Counties. Richard T. Collins was born March 10, 1820, and is a son of Richard A. and Lucy (Wilson) Collins, of Virginia and Pendleton County, Ky. Richard A. Collins, born in 1791, moved from Pendleton to Kenton County in 1832, and was captain of the State militia; he was of Welsh origin, and died in 1861. Richard T. Collins has always been engaged in farming, and in 1856 married Miss Georgiana Cummins, of Bourbon County. She died in 1885, leaving nine children. Mr. Collins owns ninety-four acres of land in Kenton County, and eighty-four in Grant County. He is a member of the Christian Church, and nephew of the historian, Collins. Dr. Frank C. Collins read medicine under Dr. John Fenley, of Crittenden, and in 1883 graduated in medicine at the Ohio Medical College at Cincinnati. He began practicing his profession at Crittenden, and has been very successful.
