Below is a family biography from the book, History of Kentucky, Edition 7 by J. H. Battle, W. H. Perrin and G. C. Kniffin and published by F. A. Battey Publishing Company in 1887.  These biographies are valuable for genealogy research in discovering missing ancestors or filling in the details of a family tree. Family biographies often include far more information than can be found in a census record or obituary.  Details will vary with each biography but will often include the date and place of birth, parent names including mothers' maiden name, name of wife including maiden name, her parents' names, name of children (including spouses if married), former places of residence, occupation details, military service, church and social organization affiliations, and more.  There are often ancestry details included that cannot be found in any other type of genealogical record.

LEWIS AYLOR was born in Boone County, Ky., August 28, 1820, and is the second of five children born to Henry and Jemina (Tanner) Aylor. Henry Aylor was a native of Virginia, but came to Kentucky with his parents, Michael and Sallie Aylor, at an early date, and settled near Florence, Boone Co., Ky. Henry Aylor was brought up on the farm, and followed farming all his life. Jemina Tanner was a daughter of Frederick and Mary Tanner, natives of Virginia, but early settlers in Boone County, Ky. Lewis Aylor was brought up on the farm, and received a common-school education. He has followed farming all his life, and settled where he now resides in 1885, where he owns 147 acres; he also owns a farm near Union, Boone County, of 220 acres. Of late years he has been devoting considerable attention to the breeding and developing of fine stock. December 17, 1840, he married Susan Blankenbeker, a daughter of Ephraim and Elizabeth (Smith) Blankenbeker, of Boone County. To this union eight children have been born, viz.: Sarah J., John H., Virginia A., Perryander, Penbleton C, Mary B., Susan D. and Lewis P. — three of whom are deceased, viz.: Perryander, Penbleton C. and Mary B. Mr. Aylor is a Master Mason, and politically he is a Democrat.
