SCHNELLBACHER, GEO. W., contractor; was born in Ross county, Ohio, in 1844, and came to Madison county in 1856, and, in 1859, although only fifteen years of age, he crossed the plains to Colorado, and endured hardships that seemed impossible for one so young to bear; he returned to Madison county in 1864, and in 1867 went to California, and was engaged on public works in that State, and remained there until 1875, when he returned to Iowa, and is now settled in this county, and is at present engaged in constructing the bridges of the county; he married Miss Drusella Morgan, of St. Charles, Madison county, in 1866; she was born in West Virginia; their family consists of five children: Maud, Oliver, Quimby, Dudley and Braxton.
