TRAYLOR, M. V., biographical writer, P. O. Shenandoah; born in Pike county, Indiana, February 2, 1851. His early life was spent with his father, on a farm. At the age of 21 years he moved with his father to Kansas. Becoming dissatisfied there, he, with his father, returned to Pike county, Indiana. Lived with his sister, on a farm, one year, and went to work for his uncle, on a farm. He obtained most of his education in the high school of Petersburg, Indiana. Began teaching in 1875. Followed teaching and farming until the spring of 1880, when he went to Page county, Iowa. Was engaged in selling subscription books for Segner & Condit, of Burlington, Iowa, for about five months, when he united with the Iowa Historical Company, of Des Moines, Iowa. He has been a member of the Methodist church since January 12, 1878; also a member of the I. O. O. F. since 1879.
