STOOPS, I. W., farmer and stock-raiser, P. O. Clarinda; born October 15, 1839, in Putnam county, Indiana. Moved with his parents to this county in 1857. He reached his majority as a farmer, which occupation he still follows. Was married January 8, 1863, to Miss Martha B. McCrory, who was born March 30, 1844, in Ireland, but has lived in America since 1857. They have a family of six children: Mary B., Sarah M., Eliza J., Martha, William J. and Susana J., all living. They are members of the Reformed Presbyterian church, of which they have been consistent communicants for a number of years. They are good neighbors and kind parents. Owns one hundred and forty-five acres of good land, mostly in cultivation.
