MEDES, W. J., attorney at law and County Superintendent of Schools; born in Cincinnati, O., Nov. 30, 1850; came to Keokuk in April, 1857. Mr. Medes is a graduate of the Iowa State University, at Iowa City, Class of 1872; he was admitted to the bar in March, 1876; in 1875, he was elected County Superintendent of Schools, and re-elected in 1877; he is editor of the Central School Journal, a paper devoted to educational interests, and of such merit that it has acquired a circulation of over 5,000 copies. Mr. Medes married Kate F. Hagny Nov. 29, 1877; they have one son — Hugh Lloyd.
