LEROY B. LEMMON, a native of Dubois County, Ind., was born October 24, 1852, the sixth in a family of seven children—Jacob P., Margaret (Mrs. Elijah Hobbs), Wilson F., Leroy B. and John P. living, and Webster and M. F. deceased—born to David and Mary (Flint) Lemmon. The father came to Dubois County when but a boy, married and raised his family in the same county, and he and wife were members of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Leroy B. remained at home until the death of his father, his mother having died when he was young. He received a liberal education, and January 7, 1875, married Miss Fannie Z. Chappell, who was born January 10, 1855, a daughter of William and Teressa (Brenton) Chappell, and to them have been born four children: Ada B. (deceased), William D., Albert L. and Ethelda. Mr. Lemmon located in Skelton Township in the spring of 1883, and owns 160 acres of well improved land. He is a farmer and stock-raiser by occupation, and handles leaf tobacco of late. He has a large barn with a capacity of 500,000 pounds per annum. He is a Republican, a member of the I. O. O. F. fraternity, and he and wife are members of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
