HERLEMANN, WM. N., farmer; Sec. 14; P. O. Quincy. The subject of this sketch was born on the place he now resides on, June 2, 1852; was educated in the schools of this county, and graduated at the college at Warrenton, Mo. On the 20th of October, 1875, he was married to Miss Emma C. Dickhut, daughter of C. C. Dickhut, of Quincy. She was born July 5, 1855. They have two children: Katie Alice, born Nov. 20, 1876; the baby, born Aug. 20, 1878. He owns 360 acres of land which, for fertility of soil and improvement, will compare favorably with any in the township. He is Republican in politics. His father, Nicholas Herlemann, was among the earliest settlers of the township, and is one of the large and well-to-do farmers of Melrose township.
