LONGRESS, JOHN, blacksmith, 230 Main street, residence 209 S. 3d street; was born in Culpeper county Va. in 1838; moved to Hannibal Mo. same year with his parents. He learned his trade there and married Matilda Spencer in 1852; moved to Quincy in 1860 where he has worked steadily at his trade. Mrs. Longress was born in Missouri. They have seven children: Jesse, Emily, Eliza, Erianna, Virginia, William and the baby. They are Baptists. He is Republican in politics. He is a reliable and competent blacksmith and horseshoer. Jobbing of all kinds in his line.
