Below is a family biography included in The History of Adams County, Illinois published by Murray, Williamson & Phelps in 1879.  These biographies are valuable for genealogy research in discovering missing ancestors or filling in the details of a family tree. TURNER, JOHN F., farmer; residence, Sec. 20; P. O. Columbus; son of Francis and Elizabeth (Beedles) Turner, natives of Virginia; was born in Clark county, Ind., April 11, 1830; is the fourth of a family of two sons and four daughters. In the fall of 1835, his parents removed to Adams county, and the following spring settled on the farm adjoining where he now resides. Jan. 31, 1855, he married Isabel Smith, who was born in Adams county, Dec. 9, 1834. She is the daughter of George and Mary (Curry) Smith. In 1859, Mr. T. bought the wild land and settled on the farm they now own. They have had three children, two living: Charles H., born Dec. 16, 1855, and William Edward, born Nov. 26, 1857. He owns 220 acres in the home place, worth $40 per acre. His mother still occupies the homestead, where his father died years ago.
