CAIN, JAMES, farmer; Sec. 10; P. O. Loraine; was born in Coshocton county, Ohio, May 5, 1825; came to Adams county in 1849; married Miss Ellen J. Foxwell, Feb. 10, 1850. She was born in Gloucester county, Va., Jan. 16, 1826. They have had four children: Aaron, born Nov. 16, 1850; Isabella, born April 7, 1853; John W., born March 23, 1855, and James B., born Oct. 25, 1857. Aaron died Sept. 28, 1851. Mr. Cain came to the place he now owns in 1860; has made most of the improvements. He owns 760 acres of land (600 acres under cultivation), worth $30,400, besides property in Loraine. Mr. Cain came here a poor boy, but, by hard work and strict economy, has accumulated a fine property.
