HOFFMEISTER, HENRY, gardener and fruit-grower; Sec. 6, Range 8; P. O. Quincy; was born in Germany, May 8, 1834; came to this country in 1856 and settled in New York, and moved to this county in 1860; was married to Miss Dena Myer in 1862. She was born in Germany, also. They have six children, one son and five daughters. He owns twenty-four acres of land, in a high state of cultivation, well improved, abundantly supplied with fruit, and worth probably $200 per acre. He is a Democrat, and a member of the German Lutheran church. He is one of the energetic and industrious citizens of this township to whom it owes its present prosperity.
