Below is a family biography included in The History of Sebastian County, Arkansas published by Goodspeed Publishing Company in 1889.  These biographies are valuable for genealogy research in discovering missing ancestors or filling in the details of a family tree. R. B. King, M. D., another successful physician and surgeon of Fort Smith, Ark., was born in Little Rock, of that State, October 17, 1845, being the son of George B. and Jane (Walker) King. The father was born in North Carolina, but came to Arkansas, and lived near Little Rock for many years, where he died in 1862, at the age of sixty years. He was of Scotch descent. The mother was born in Arkansas, while it was still a Territory. She is the daughter of Col. Alexander Walker, one of the noted men of the early days of Arkansas. Dr. R. B. King received his literary education in Arkansas, and graduated from the medical department of the University of Louisiana (New Orleans) in 1868. He located in Little Rock, where he practiced medicine for several years, and then made an extensive trip over the Western States and Territories. In 882 he came to Fort Smith, where he has since gained a lucrative practice. While in Little Rock he was united in marriage to Miss Onetha Badgett, daughter of N. H. Badgett, one of the pioneer merchants and one of the leading business men and citizens of Little Rock, Ark. He was one of the extensive property owners of that city, and the Badgett Block, which is still in possession of the family bears his name. Dr. R. B. King is the father of two children, Grace and Edwin. He is a member of the Episcopal Church, and belongs to the I. O. O. F.
