Amos A. Brown a farmer of Benton County, Ark., was born on the 2d of February, 1830, and located on his present fine farm of 260 acres in 1852. He has lived a quiet, uneventful life, but has always taken a deep interest in matters pertaining to the welfare of the county in which he resides. He has 130 acres of land under cultivation, and is in a prosperous condition, financially. Mr. Brown votes the Democratic ticket, and his first vote for President as far as he recollects was for James K. Polk. He is a member of the Missionary Baptist Church. His parents, Alfred and Narcissus (Belk) Brown, were married in their native State, North Carolina, and immigrated to Tennessee in 1832, and from Tennessee to North Carolina in 1834. In 1851 they left North Carolina and arrived in Benton County in 1852. Their children were as follows: Elvira, Darling (deceased), James, Amos A., Arra A., Asoph (deceased), Alfred (deceased), Harriet, J. M. and John W. The paternal grandfather was an Englishman and came to America at a very early day, locating in North Carolina.
